Routes to the destination

By personal vehicle: There are two access ways.

          1. Doi Inthanon route
          From Chiangmai, you may start at Airport Junction. Go straight on Chiangmai-Hang dong road, pass Tesco Lotus, Hang Dong, Sunpatong, Jom Thong districts. But before you enter Jom Thong's downtown, look for Pu-pi-sit shop on your left. And before you reach Bangjak gas station, there'll be a crossroad and a sign that said "Doi Inthanon", turn right and go straight. You will pass first checkpoint at Mae Klang waterfall, go straight and you'll see Doi Inthanon National Park Office (at KM11). Drive on the same road until you get to the second checkpoint and turn left (if you go straight it will lead you to Doi Inthanon instead).
          Please note that you should drive slowly and use low gear until you arrive the town because the road's quite wind. All is take about 115 kilometers.

          2. Hod-Mae Sariang route
          From Chiangmai, start at Airport Junction. Go straight on Chiangmai-Hang dong road, pass Tesco Lotus, Hang Dong, Sunpatong, Jom Thong and Hod districts. When you reached Hod market, you'll see a roundabout and a big clock tower, circle to the right. There'll be a district office on your left. From there, keep going straight on Hod-Mae Sariang road and look for the sign that said "Mae Chaem," then turn right. Once you turned, you'll see a temple on your left, keep going straight passing Om kood village, Long Pong, Kong Khaek until you arrive to the town. All is take about 150 kilometers.

By public transportation: There are two pick-up points.

          First point; choose between buses or passenger trucks depend on your favorite but if you have a carsickness, we suggest you take the bus though it will take a bit longer.
          - At Chiangmai Gate market, in front of Pu shop (near Ruam Bai Boon shop), there are blue buses available
          - At the opposite of the above, at the abandoned pagoda, there are yellow passenger trucks availabe. Get on one that goes to "Jom Thong."
          The vehicle will pass Hang Dong, Sunpatong and Jom Thong districts. When arrived Jom Thong, please look for a sign that said "Doi Inthanon" at the crossroad (beyond Pu-pi-sit shop but before Bangjak gas station) and then tell the collector that you will get off at Mae Chaem stop (otherwise they won't pull up.) But if the collector forgot, just look for Sri Jom Thong Temple (on your left) and press the bell (all is take about 2 hours and a half, approximately 60-70 THB.)

          Second point;
at Mae Chaem stop, there are 2 choices for you.
          1. Get on the passenger truck at the stop near Jom Thong market. Take the yellow truck underneath the big tamarind tree, nearby the public park. When you approach the truck, if you're lucky enough that the truck is fulled you'll be off to Mae Chaem immediately...but if not, you might have to wait a bit longer...that's why it's an adventure (the fare is about 60-70 THB.)
          2. Hitchhiking at the crossroad close to Pu-pi-sit shop. If there's a villager truck passing by you, ask them if they're heading to Mae Chaem and ask them is it okay for you to come along (this is very challenging, because you'll never know if you're going the get that ride.) This will take up to an hour and a half.
